if I only had a brain
Mar. 24th, 2003 05:15 pmEvil weekend of hell update:
Saturday's reharsals went pretty well. We ran all the dance numbers that absolutely SUCKED LIKE A HOOVER. Especially Easter Parade, the number with just alumni. eek. Getting better every time though. Hopefully with dress reharsals every day this week we'll be ready to open on Thursday.
I then went home to do my taxes (fun fun fun. yay government taking all my money) and work at Aurora for a couple hours. It is beyond creepy in there at 5-9 on a Saturday nite with no one in the department. But I could wear street clothes and sing really loud to whatever the hell I wanted to listen to without anyone asking me why anyone would name a band 'The Squirrel Nut Zippers'. :oP
Sunday was my big nail biter: Ren Faire auditions. Not only to I DESPISE auditioning, I had to go through this last year. I really really want to be a dancer again, so it was nerve racking and scary to have my fate riding on me not screwing up. I had a good support group there, lots of former revelers. When I entered the room, my name was announced to the directors and a couple of them actually remembered who I was! I of course was nervous to no end and my performance was affected by that. Every high note was warbly and short, even the line 'belting as high as they can', which I was planning to hold extra long because I kick ass at that part. I'm not going to be all over critical of myself and pick it all apart. It wasn't my best performance, but it wasn't my worst. The group improv afterwards was fine and I did really good at showing my dance skills. They were cheering and yelling 'work it!' so it's safe to assume they liked my performance. Steve, the director of the new dance troupe, and Ron, the director of the whole faire, said I did a wonderful job. SOOOOO glad it's finally over. Now I can focus my stress on the upcoming show. :)
Randy did great too. He already got a call (that day!) from the director of the street cast that he has a spot in their group. Which is amazingly wonderful and he's going to have a blast. It's basically the highest rank in the faire. good for him. And Tim Palachek auditioned for the first time and made it into Street Cast as well, that lucky thang. I'm going nuts checking my phone every five minutes to see if the dance director (or anyone!?) called yet. The only thing I hate more than auditioning is waiting to hear your fate. If I don't make it into the dance group I will die. I will just die.
Um. Hope everyone is well. hugs to all. :* must be off to another fun filled nite of reharsal. with costumes. and 84 people running around a super small backstage area. woo!
