I am offically an adult. holy shit.
Sep. 29th, 2003 07:53 pmI may not have found my wings yet, but this is damn near flying. Last weekend I said my goodbyes to my problem ridden Grand Am and with the support of my whole family, bought a new car, a 2003 Saturn Ion (silver with a sunroof). It has everything I want and the best part is that it's covered by warranties if anything breaks down. No more constant worrying or driving in fear of ending up on the side of the road. No more not being able to see out the windshield because the defroster doesn't work. AND I can sing Adam Sandler's 'Ode to My Car' without relating to all the lyrics.
Overall it was an awesome weekend, tipped off by driving down to Chicago with Tim and seeing Hedwig. Becky gave an awesome performance as one of Hedwig's Korean sgt's wives during Wicked Little Town and Eric's debute as the pizza delivery guy and the angry restraunt patron. Ian rocked as Hedwig. That boy looks good in blue glitter eyeshadow. He had the whole pink umbrella/sunglasses outfit on for his entrance and took a swan dive over some seats....poor thing. They all obviously worked really hard on their costumes and everything. It's going to take some time to get a solid call back system started, but all in all it was a very fun evening. Hopefully the tradition will continue and they'll do this again.
Nice crossover from Rocky to Hedwig. Janet's 'slut' got replaced in the scene when Yitzak wants his passport and Hedwig ripped it up with "you BITCH!' It was extra cool being an audience member of their first ever attempt at doing this. And I of course waste no opportunity to wear my black satin corset and douse myself in glitter...
I spent the rest of the weekend with my family. Sleeping in my old room for the first time in over two months. Playing with Lestat the psycho cat, who was pretty nice to me for a change and only bit me once. Staying up late watching old horror movies with Dad. I forgot how much I missed waking up to the smell of coffee and pancakes on a Sunday morning. and Sunday night dinner - homemade rotisserie chicken. GOD I need to learn how to cook.
Everything is going pretty damn well for me right now. There's still that lingering black cloud following me everywhere.....the emptiness of being lonely and still sort of hating yourself gets in the way sometimes. And I'm still deeply hurt from some of the people I considered friends falling by the wayside. But, such is life. I'm safe for the most part. I have a place to live. My family is nearby. I am working for a company I believe in and am helping as many people as I can. It's what I've always wanted. Now I have to let go and enjoy it.
I'm getting really exited about next weekend. Some ex-revelers are getting together again and performing at a faire in Illinois. It was a highlight of the fall last year and I'm happy to put on my garb again before packing it up till next June. I just hope I run into Randy as little as possible. And learn the sword dance. And not freeze my ass off.
((special note to Becky and Eric- I forgot that I promised to attend my Grandfather's birthday dinner Friday night, so I don't know if I'll make it as early as we had talked about (which really sucks because I was looking forward to going to that pub again...) I might be getting there rather late, depending on traffic and whatnot. Any word from TJ yet?? Should I email him?))
