learning2fly: (B&W Ani Difranco)
maybe i'll live my whole life
just getting by
maybe i'll be discovered
maybe i'll be colonized
you could try to train me like a pet
you could try to teach me to behave
but i'll tell you, if i haven't learned it yet
i ain't gonna sit
i ain't gonna stay

Heather and I went to see the fabulous Miss Ani Difranco last night. I could watch/listen to her play all night. She played mostly songs from 'Evolve' and a few from her new album 'Educated Guess' and a few old favorites and even one she just finished writing that day (a really beautiful piece about how she hates that she can't be there for her grandfather who is stuck in a nursing home). It was a really great show. I loved her opening act, too. Her name is Noe Venable, a folk singer that sang and played acoustic guitar along with a guy playing stand up base. I find the bestest people opening for my ladies (ex: Rufus Wainwright and Howie Day also opening for Tori). I've only seen Ani 1 other time and didn't care for her opener...he was some very angry guy that reamed out the latecomers...
so. there we are, leaving the concert with a nice overall happy ani glow...only to proceed to get stuck in the parking structure for an hour waiting for the one attendant to get the zillion cars leaving simultaneously out of that cement hole. It wouldn't have been as bad if it hadn't been for the asshole in the car behind us. This dickhead waited until there was a couple feet between us, floored it and quickly slammed on his brakes before slamming into my bumper. Over and over for an hour, people. He never hit me thank god, but once he got so close that I lost my temper and proceeded to get out of my car and scream 'If you hit my car I'm gonna kick your ass! FUCK YOUUUU!!' but the 16 year old asshole and his giggling girlfriend just sat there with a smug grin on his face and the jerks behind him yelled 'get back in your car bitch'. Then he put on his hazard lights for the rest of the way and blared on his car horn for minutes at a time.

Sort of ruined the happy post concert bliss a bit.

At least I had a good night on Friday. It was Aurora's X-Mas party (just us crazy people from Rehabilitation), at Infunsino's Banquet Hall in Racine (it is nice having a family member of the owner working for us). I got to dress up, hang with my crazy coworkers and kick ass at Cranium. After the party a few of us went to a really crappy bar. Just me and the boys, laughing at the stupid rap band trying so very hard to look cool while making horrible attempts at music. I had a few Jack and cokes so I got a ride home...I got to ride in Matthew's Toerag- that thing is a *tank*. Smooth ride and pretty and all, but a tank.
All in all a nice evening.
As for today, I slept in till 9:30 and did a lot of laundry and general cleaning my very very messy room (I have floor again!) and then was taken on a tour of Milwaukee's trendy vintage clothing stores with Heather and her classmate, Katie. I really liked the new age shop we went in: the owner had us draw rune cards. Mine said watch the movements of the day, take in the joy, and someone you've been waiting for will come into your life soon. That put me in a good mood. We headed back to Katie's flat to have dinner. Her boyfriend made us some really good mushroom and chicken pasta and bruchetta and we all gathered around to watch Bjork videos. I love hanging out with artistic people. They're so freakin cool and open to things. That girl saw Andrew two weeks ago. I'm so jealous. We had long talks about Andrew and Hedwig. (Hey Becky, Eric and Ian, I think I talked her into going to see your show!!) She's really nice. I like all Heather's classmates. They're really cool people.

Well, that's all for now, gotta get ready for tomorrow. This weekend went by way too fast.
