Dance monkey, dance!!
Oct. 19th, 2004 09:28 amThe next two days are going to be interesting...
Today at 11:30 I will be singing for my coworkers at the hospital. Every September/October is Employee Partnership Campaign recruiting...basically to raise our contributions to various charities like United Way. I'm all for that. If I had any money they'd be the first to get it. So. This year the big giant heads at Aurora Healthcare decided that there will be an "Aurora Idol" competition. (gag!) But seriously. I was walking past the cafeteria one day and was harassed until I gave in to singing for the camera. I didn't have any music with me so I sang 'Someone to Watch Over Me' a capella. Not too bad, if I may say so myself. Now I'm doing it live to drum up more votes. Every vote is a dollar towards the cause. Shouldn't be too bad. If I make it to the top 3 I have to perform in some fancy concert at St. Luke's in Milwaukee.
Later I have 6 students for Back School. This is my class for Physical Therapy patients with chronic back pain who need to learn how to take care of themselves so they don't get hurt again. It's a 2 hour class in which I cover the anatomy of the back, causes of back pain and injuries and ways to tweak your daily activities to protect your back. Usually there are 2 of us, switching off so we don't lose our voices, but somebody had to go to Aruba for the week. Lucky bastard.
And tomorrow morning I'm going to a construction company to do the same thing, only squeezed into 30 minutes. eek. Me telling big burly construction workers to keep their backs straight. Right...
