Jul. 4th, 2005 11:00 pmI now have over 50 LJ friends! I never thought that would happen. (Hi Duhan, Erin and Dave! I added ya'll today, sorry took me so long to notice, I never check my info page ever)
LJ and I are at odds with each other right now. I can't exactly write about what I want to so I'll stay vague for now.
Went to Vegas. I had a pretty good time. Dropped far too much money on cab rides and food. The Star Trek Experience was awesome though. And Jeff and Sarah's wedding. The Rocky con stuff was irritatingly unorganized but cute. Then I drowned in drama.
Rocky shows came and went this weekend, mostly awkward or all together avoided contact with one another.
Sunday was beautiful outside!! Not too hot, not too cold. Perfect. I waved at all the poor folks at Bristol Faire for dress rehearsal as I drove by. Hope everything went well for you guys. Can't wait to see your shows, whenever I get out of my shop, anyway. Went to Summerfest with a mob of people that afternooon, caught a handful of mediocre concerts and had some sweet sweet Lines Berry Weiss on tap. Ok, three of them. Howie Day was not as much fun with a full band as he was back in 2000 solo with looping equipment. The entire audience was a living Abercrombie advertisement. I wanted to yarf. He finally played solo for the encore and made me and Heather very happy. It was fun seeing the future yuppies of america stopping their stupid bouncy dancing and scratching their heads. He didn't play the 1 song I like of his, I think it's called Bunnies. At the end of the song he takes the 4 layers of guitar and speeds it up really fast and sings 'In the future, people will be sent to distant lands through beams of light' a bunch of times and acts like a robot. That's my favorite. It's goofy and I love it. Poor Becky got a parking ticket: 30 bucks because we were 4 feet from a driveway. Heather went to school a few blocks away and parked in that same spot many times and never had any trouble but when Summerfest rolls around it the cops turn into assholes.
Today I slept in. Dad and I canceled our plans to take the canoe out for a spin because there was a severe storm watch. Turned out it only sprinkled for about 20 minutes on and off a couple times.
I finally unpacked from Vegas and organized the piles of crap scattered around my room. Dad grilled out and Chris came up to eat with us. Spent a long time searching for decent prices and settled on the best we could find for tickets to New York. We got roundtrip nonstop tickets with United for $280. Which is pretty high but I haven't flown there in over a year so I don't really know what's average these days. At this point, I don't really care anymore. I just want to get there and see my Liz. (37 days to go!!)
I have some good things coming my way in the near future:
Wednesday: Little Shop of Horrors in Milwaukee
Thursday: Summerfest to see Weezer and the Pixies with Heather and Chris
Sat/Sun: Opening weekend of Bristol
Oh and the huge news that I don't think I've mentioned on LJ: Dad and I are going to the Boundary Waters a week from Wednesday! I can't wait. I need to get away from everything for a while and get lost in the woods. I need to hike and canoe and fish and hunt for blueberries. It's going to be really good for me and Dad to work things out between us too. Working together to survive in the middle of the wilderness is a good start.
Also, if anyone can get off of work on Friday the 22nd, I'm planning on spending the day at Six Flags. Haven't been there in years.
Hope everyone had a good weekend/holiday.
Love you all.
