Sweeney Todd is coming!!
Oct. 8th, 2007 03:29 pm EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Watch the trailer for the love of GOD.
The cinematography, costumes and sets look fabulous. I really hope that Tim Burton took the darkness and ran with it. The little blip of strikingly blue sky must be for "By the Sea" when Mrs Lovett is daydreaming about their perfect little future. That will be neat to see, very Wizard of Oz B&W to color, only overly saturated to the point of sickeningly sweet. Perfect, no? It's one of my favorite songs in the show. I want it to be perfect.
The cast is going to be great: Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Anthony Stewart Head in a small singing narrator role. The only one I'm worried about is Johnny Depp. He seemed so subdued rather than enraged. The bit they show of him singing makes me worried. He seemed a bit sing-talky Rex Harrison-esque instead of all out singing. I hope they don't go that route too often.
Ah well, we shall see. I'm looking forward to the holiday lineup. Sweeney Todd and Golden Compass. I hope to be done with the books by then. At this rate I'll be done with book 2 on the plane tomorrow. :)
