learning2fly: (deny me and be doomed)

I failed to mention Heather and I went to see a production of 'The Last Five Years' last Saturday. I randomly bought the Journal Times on Friday and noticed that a small theater in downtown Milwaukee was doing it. After seeing it (in bootleg video form) and adoring the music so much that I used 'Climbing Uphill' as my Bristol audition last March, and yet I have never actually SEEN it performed before. It was at a church (?) which was a little odd to me. The actors were in their late 30's/early 40's, which is different than I was used to. I love how minimalist the show was. They used a wooden platform painted like a dock that flipped over into a boat. Other than that they only used two benches. The backdrop was two large panels with various photos of hands. I liked it a lot. I still tear up every time I hear 'Still Hurting'. Every time. I think Heather really enjoyed it too, and I'm glad she came. It's hard for me to share my stuff with my family sometimes. They don't dig musicals and theater as much as I do. I STILL can't get my Dad to watch Hedwig...even though I know he will love it. oh well.

I also have recently seen (and LOVE) Pieces of April, The Triplets of Bellville and Fargo. I hope in the near future I will finally get to see Troy, Van Helsing, Shrek 2 and Harry Potter. I just need to find the time.

I can't wait till this Friday, I get to go see Patty Larkin in concert. I haven't seen my folk diva in at least 6 years.

Bristol reharsals start this Saturday! Eeek!

When did that happen?

Ooh, you should show me those movies too. I'll also volunteer to see Troy with you, if you can wait a week. I have a feeling I want to see what it's like. We should have a chat and make some plans!

Give your sister a hug from me. Hope you're both okay! Talk to you real soon.

Van Helsing=big popcorn movie, too much CGI, but what I was expecting.

Troy=pretty actors, but tried to be more than it really is. It's not another Gladiator. And it screwed up the story of the Iliad.

Shrek 2=cute and funny, not as original as the first

Harry Potter=I want to see it as well
