A question for all you music geeks who use iTunes:

I can't seem to figure this out.

I use my computer as my stereo. I like iTunes, it has all my playlists and all that good stuff. Back when I had a bunch of different programs running at once, it would skip like a scratched CD. Now it has no excuse. The only thing running is iTunes. So why for, does it continue to skip? Has this happened to anyone else, or is it just my crappy computer trying to piss me off with yet another problem?

any ideas?

How do the same song files play on other comps? If the file itself is corrupted (usually caused by people trying to do stuff on their computer while originally encoding them), the fastest/best computer is still going to skip with them... it's kinda like a scratched record - small scratches and skips might be helped with a better turntable, but it's still scratched and will skip.

Some of my songs skip on iTunes, but it's because the CD skips too. Does it only skip on certain songs?

No, it does it at random. I can back up and play the same spot that skips again and it will be fine. I just don't get it.

The burned Wicked CD that you gave me did that on Marty and on iTunes. I think it was because I played the CD too much and got scratches on it. But since I purchased a copy of the soundtrack and re-transferred the songs, it's been fine on both.

Same thing is happening to my Aerosmith songs, though the CD is fine. I think I had a ton of crap open while I was transferring to iTunes with that one.

it only happens to me if there's too much stuff up and it freezes. but this is rare.
