excuse me but can I be you for a while

Long overdue update...sorry folks. It's just been nonstop madness around here lately. Long story short, the holidays this year were the best they've ever been for me. Christmas was spent at the parent's house. Spent it hanging around, grazing on the always fabulous Daddy food and greeting the random visitors that stopped by throughout the day. Coolest and most functional present: a paid account and extra usericons from Becky and Eric!! thanks guys!!
As for New Years, Heather and I took advantage of our new independence and hosted a little shindig at our apartment. Here's some photographic evidence of the craziness. And Eric, I want copies of your pictures pleeeeease.
It turned out to be sort of a livejournal reunion.
We had
beckysue2323 and
phed4,
corenrind and
loofah,
hezlizzie and newcomer to LJ, the fabulous miss
apple_tree_meg. (welcome to lj Megan the Green. word of advice: don't start any smack in here...it never ends well). GOD it was an awesome evening. We got to play with our new fondue pots and made lots of crazy combinations. See Eric's post for details. I got far too wasted after midnight. Vodka is evil and should not be taken in shot form. nope nope. I was off on my sleep cycle for a couple of days but damn it was worth it.
In other news, I am officially coming out of my funk. I'm sick of being caught in this neverending cycle of self loathing and all that fun stuff. It's a new year with lots of possibilities. I started taking yoga again. My first day was harder than I thought it would be. I'm so rusty with the poses. I vow to use my new energy towards losing some freakin weight.
Work is getting better, I'm not on 10 hour days anymore as of this week. I just worked a regular 8 hour shift and even though it was a very hectic one, my back only started to hurt in the last couple of hours and I wasn't as tired. (which is a HUGE deal, people). So, yay for me.
Also, I had a really nice visit with my Liz while she was home from the big apple. That always makes me happy.
Today I discovered Easy Mac. It is a good day indeed. Seriously though, I need to learn to cook. NOW. I sat looking at the box of Easy Mac and almost didn't make it because I'm so freakin lazy. oy.
I'm almost done reading Wicked and have fallen in love with a few songs from the new musical based off of it. Idina Menzel and Norbert Leo Butz rock my world (see my many wicked user icons?? love it). Seriously. Did you all hear that Cabaret closed on b'way last weekend? so sad. so very very sad. There's a cute photo gallery of the last show on Broadway.com if anyone has the need to see Raul hugging Adam Pascal.
Last weekend I went to a ren faire gathering of sorts with my dance troupe. It was at my director's house and turned out to be well worth the 80 mile drive. Steve (our director) announced that he met up with the Big Giant Heads of Bristol and found out we will exist next season but will not be getting paid for our efforts. Soo, it really sucks royal ass that we're not getting paid, but on the other hand, we can cut out the constant performing and parading. (no more evil 5:00 maypole sets!!) Which really means I can take some time off to go to the Boundary Waters or Irish Fest or whatever I need to do. So cool beans. We'll have more dancing, less specialty acts, more fun wandering around (and shopping) time. all in all I guess it will be for the best. I spent the evening fighting off Jon with a stick...I barely made it in the door and he blurts out "I'm single again!" like I was supposed to care. gah. that boy. The younger peeps at the party piled into the next room and watched Pirates...so if the discussions got lame (i.e. D&D strategies, etc) I'd just wander in there.
OH! and miss Ann Elizabeth from faire called me yesterday, she'd like me to read for a part in a play she's putting on! I'm going to be in theater stuff again! Huzzah!! It's called 'THE ADMIRABLE CRICHTON' and here's the script. woo! I'll be sure to keep ya'll up to date with developments on that.
Paul Kunasch called me today. He's so freakin wonderful. Even though I'm a horrible person and haven't gone to see him in a long ass time, I'm still his Love Muffin. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. He said that he still tells everyone that I'm the most wonderful person in the world. Like people will say 'I'm the number 1 person in the universe' and Paul's like, 'maybe number 2, number 1 will always be reserved for Melissa Johnson'. Isn't that just the sweetest? And he's completely and utterly sincere about it. I changed his rule about evil women logic: now the term is 'evil women logic except for Melissa Johnson' and he still says that Ethan Frome is a horrible book to whoever will listen, just because I said so.
I sat down and looked at my planner (aka my brain) and we are going to hang out (for the first time in three freakin years, people) this Sunday. (well, technically we were both in the same theater for a Tori Amos concert, but that doesn't count).
Heather and I are getting tattooed on Saturday. Then the Packers will win the game on Sunday. Then I will see my Paul.
sounds like an excellent line up, don't you think?
um...that's about it I suppose. I sort of met a boy at New Years. He was a manager at Barnes and Noble when I worked there but we never talked so I never got to know him. He's really cool and I'd like to get to know him better but he lives in freakin North Carolina. for now, anyway. He's planning on moving in with his Dad (4 doors down from us!) mid-February. So we'll see what happens.
