I feel a million times better knowing that my mom is ok. She has been in Jamaica since last Monday and has been residing in the path of hurricane Ivan. My Dad and I have been constantly watching the weather channel. Thank god the weather reporters were wrong; they had plotted a course for the storm to run right through the middle of the island. Instead it followed a perfectly parallel line around the island, saving millions of people from destruction. If all goes well and the roads to the airport aren't too covered in downed trees, she should fly out of there tomorrow night.
Ivan is expected to continue northward towards Florida and Georgia...which also sucks because my Aunt Judy is in Miami and our friends the Magnus's are in Georgia. Dad and I are going down to see them in less than a month to go shrimping, so hopefully the poor little skrimpies won't get blown away or anything.
