Howdy y'all. My summer class got out early today, so I thought I should post some schtuff. Sleep? Who needs sleep?
So. Last weekend was much much bettah. It wasn't over 90 degrees, yet I still sweated just as much as opening day. eh. I really don't mind it as much now. I think of it as my body's air conditioner system. It's not icky disgusting sweat, it's a natural (great smelling...) coolant.
Saturday was not a good patron day for me. I was shot down by 3 guys in one hour. Most of the weekend was spent searching for new people to meet. My guilde is great, but I'm trying to expand my circle a bit. I broke the news that mr. 23 is getting engaged to Becky, one of my new buds, and ended up consoling her all day. She was minutes away from asking him out. Good thing I caught her in time. Dan behaved this weekend, due to his constant flirting with the Pickle girl. Part of me was kinda jealous for some reason. (I still have no feelings for him. I'm really mad at myself for not having some sort of attraction. It would make things so much easier...) Actually, speaking of Dan, on Sunday he was cast as Robin Hood and I as Maid Marion. I didn't realize this until right before we started and I saw him wearing the costume. Granted, our play is meant to be a representation of what the country folk did for fun, ratty costumes and bad acting, but I still was nervous. The scene where we meet has a few moments where we're supposed to kiss, but so far no one has actually kissed for real. I haven't been kissed in TWO YEARS and did NOT want him to be my first one. Nor did I really want to kiss him. There's a new guy I met yesterday. He works at the Tarot tent by the joust. I went over to him to talk to a girl in my guilde about taking the role away from me. He overheard and was convinced he needed to be my bodyguard and kick Dan's ass if he tried anything. So he followed us through the whole play. As Marion, I have control over whether or not we actually kiss, so Dan got a kiss on both cheeks. I think tarot boy was dissapointed. He is really cool, although I can't remember his name at the moment. It was something like Damien. Something dark and evil. On saturday, he was sitting on the rocks watching us dance. He was giving me the eye the whole time, so I walked up to him and asked him to dance. He of course said no, but I kept pestering him saying 'do you not know this dance, or do you not wish to dance with me?' He said no! I then walked away and pouted. He came over to apologize and this is how we met. I really like him. The only problem is he's dating someone. T'is well. I shall flirt and recieve back rubs and use him for protection against Dan biting my neck.
I was in the middle of interacting with a group of patrons, asking them for advise for attracting a husband. Just as he walked by, they told me to show off my cleavage and my response to that is to try my best to make cleavage and make them laugh. He took my arm and said 'This lady does not need such things. Her smile alone can melt hearts' and sat me down for a back massage. Despite my corset, he managed to give me a pretty damn good one. Later on, I was trying to teach him the bear dance. You have to start with a big step to the left, and since no patrons were listening, I said 'or some like to jump to the left and step to the right'.... needless to say we burst into a time warp in the middle of the glade. It was hilarious.
He's never gone to the oriental! April and Paige and I must take him there! He'll fit right in. He's kinda a goth. (yes. Melissa is falling for yet another 'bad boy') Nothing will come of our frienship, but at least I have a friend to hang out with when I'm down by the nobles glade.

Saturday nite I went out to eat at Phoenix with dan, becky and tatiana (the chick in chicago that helped me with my costume). Talking to Dan is much easier with two other girls to back me up. The air was thick with innuendos throughout the evening. We now have an inside joke involving someone saying 'look out! it spits' the person next to them squealing and covering their eye. It's just not as funny retelling it. nevermind.
I also must mention that I recieved my first rose yesterday! I almost cried. It was from Stefan, a guy I introduced myself to as we watched my fellow revelers play stool ball. He was really good looking, and I remembered that lots of people were saying there was a handsome guy working by dreamshoes, so I told him about that and said that it had to be him they were referring to. We had some small talk and he kept being adorable and stumbling on his words when he looked me in the eye. He apologized and said that beautiful women have that effect on him (!). After about 10 minutes of stool ball it was time for another dance set. I offered to show him some dances but he declined. I said that I would visit his shop later and he left. After the mummer's play there was a gorgeous yellow with orange tipped rose with tiny white daisies waiting for me. The card said 'thank you for a fun time. you must teach me to dance!' I found him later and we watched the Broon and Moonie show and shared a strawberry crepe. Out of curiosity I asked him his age. Guess how old this guy is. 16. Just my luck. They are either taken, I'm not attracted to them, or they're underage. again, nice to have another friend at faire.
I sound like a boy crazy teenager, don't I?
I dance 4 times a day, sing and dance for the queen, walk in the queen's parade, teach the kids to dance, perform at opening and closing gate and do a play. I don't have much time in between. Nor do I have opportunity to be so open with people anywhere else. It's good therapy for me to let my alter ego out for a romp...
