Hi everybody! (hi dr. nick!)
First of all, I'd like to wish the fabulous miss Tori Amos a happy birthday (last Thursday) and to announce to the world how happy I am that Raul Esparza is coming back to CABARET. Just for me, you know. :)
yay.
So. Haven't posted in ages due to craziness such as school starting last week and finishing up the ren faire season.
Please accept my deepest apologies. (like anyone noticed...)

**NOTE: another long winded entry below. proceed with CAUTION**

ja. Last weekend (the 17th/18th. not this past weekend) was crazy crazy crazy. You'd think with Friday and Monday off I'd find time to slow down. Let's see. Friday, I went canoing with dad at the butt crack of dawn. Don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful experience and we had a great time, but when it's your day off, all you want to do is sleep in. You know what I'm talking about. Then Eric, a friend from faire drove up to have our date. He ended up taking me to the DMV to replace my stolen license in his mustang convertible. It made the whole experience so much nicer. Then we played tennis for a while, followed by dinner at the Olive Garden. To top off the evening, anyone can guess what we did. Staying in at my house to watch a movie. Is my big screen tv a people magnet, or what? Eric saw it, dropped to the floor and started kau touing. geez. It was nice, though. We rented Lord of the Rings and cranked it up really high. because we can.
Overall, my first date in 2 years was great. The only problem was the obvious fact that he really liked me and I have no attraction to him. Which he knew before I agreed to the date. It's so freaking frustrating to have morals. I absolutely refuse to date someone just for the sake of not being alone. I should make a sign and save me some time. I sound like a broken record.
And then there was a weekend at faire. Great weather, bad company. Dan decided to join us after missing about 3 weekends. I followed our usual tell all relationship and told him about my problems with Jon. He then proceeded to try and talk me out of even giving it a try and making me feel about 2 inches tall in the process. Maybe it was his jealousy and protectiveness talking. I don't know. Doesn't exactly make it right, either.
Plus Jon was basically ignoring me all weekend. I had to walk up to him and start talking. The only time he would notice me was during the dance sets. Then he would pick me. gee thanks.
On Monday, mom, hez and I went to Skokie, IL to the snoody rich people mall that has a cheesecake factory in it. I really wasn't in the right mood to put up with the snoody rich people and their snoody overpriced merchandise sold by snoody salespeople. All I bought was some nice knee high socks to wear to faire and some facial toner stuff. Nothing big. We had a nice lunch and cheeeeeeeeeeesecake from heaven. I was originally planning on going to gurnee mills when we were done there, but I really didn't have the right mindset or cash supply to shop. So I went down to visit Jon in Arlington Heights. He was living with his parents for the summer until the time came to go back to the dorms. Their house was beautiful!! It was right on a private lake for the people in the area. Very nice. We sat next to the lake and talked for a while, he royally kicked my ass at pool and we paddled around the lake. He was suprisingly open with me and revealed his entire past. I won't go into it, but let's just say it wasn't a happy childhood for that one. Maybe he's so arrogant because he went to catholic and prep schools. (he probably fits in very well at carthage!! he and nick barootian could be roommates!) ok. that was a creepy thought. Moving on. We ended the rendez vous early (9:30) because I was tired and starting to put up my wall again, plus he wanted to go to some haunted house nearby with his friends. No kiss goodnight. I wanted to grab him and start something myself but didn't have the guts. So, that was that.
School started last wednesday. Not bad. Just a little overwhelming to start the fall semester without really getting any time to relax. Oh well. At least I can't say I was bored, right?
As for closing weekend, I went into it happy that it was going to be over. Don't misunderstand what I say. I love faire and plan to do it for years and years if I can. It's just the constant dramas and lack of free weekend time to myself. Saturday night was the Bristol Academy of Performing Arts graduation ceremony for all the first year rennies to celebrate their surviving the season. It was a blast. Each guilde put on a skit for everyone. My favorite part was when the 'older' girls in the guilde got to play 'renaissance faire girls gone wild' and showed everyone our bloomers and danced around the stage like the can can dancers in moulin rouge. Everyone loved it. And sunday was great too. We had a huge crowd and I spent the day making last minute purchases... Thank god the season is over. I'm going broke!
By the time we all went to the musician's revel on the midsummer stage at the end of the day, everyone was in tears. I managed to not cry until Mary, the actress who plays Queen Elizabeth, said a beautiful speech at closing gate. It all hit me at once what a special thing I had at faire. A 300 member family. I have some great memories from that place. ::sigh::
The cast party kinda sucked. I was wasting my time trying to get Jon's attention all night and failed miserably. He was too busy drooling over the household girls. So, basically, we're done. He is too much work and isn't fun at all. And he makes me feel about 2 inches tall (why is everyone making me feel like that!? I hate it!). He has some major apologizing to do before I'll even consider giving him another chance. I highly doubt he will anyway. He probably doesn't know that he hurt me.
No matter. I had a good night anyway. I danced till about 2 am to almost the entire Moulin Rouge soundtrack and other typical dance songs. It was nice to see everyone wearing "normal" clothes. I take that back. The guy who plays a weird animal creature (I never really did figure out what his show was all about) was wearing his usual makeup and costume from the waist up. From the waist down, he was wearing fishnets and shiny black thigh high boots with stiletto heels.
The sad thing is, it really didn't phase me. I'm used to crazy outfits from all the people watching I've done all summer.
ah well.
I must be off. must go to work. don't wanna. wah.
