Clue costume: DONE.

Value Village ROCKS MY WORLD:
- grey button up long sleeve cartigan with white collar and wrist cuffs. (hacked them off at the elbow and hand sewed the cuffs back on, just like I did for my Magenta dress. I'm getting good at that).
- grey wool pencil skirt (closest I could find in my size)
and at the dollar store I found:
- Ninja Training set complete with large knife that will work for the show, along with a mini Sai (thanks Steffen!) and two chinese stars with a ring of plastic covering the pointy edges.
Safety ninja stars!?! NO FUN.
all for a grand total of $5.43.
Sweeeet.
Now all I need to complete the ensemble is the goofy chef hat I borrowed from my boss and the apron that I usually wear for Rocky. Did we put our props in the basement after the halloween shows? Is the apron down there? I'm gonna need it. Also, I couldn't find 2 tops, so I'm going to put a hole in the back of the shirt and put the knife through it later on in the show. No fake blood then. Maybe I'll get some red cloth or something to make up for it. I'm not sure how that thing is going to stay up though. I might have to tape it to my back to hold it. The cartigan is very flimsy. Any ideas??

Date: 2005-11-09 02:10 pm (UTC)I'm planning on putting a slit in the back and basting it together for the first scenes, then pulling the thread out for the knife. I think I'm going to duct tape the knife to my skin so it can poke thru the slit but not shift around, and have a red fabric blood spot to stick to the dress around the slit.

Date: 2005-11-09 02:51 pm (UTC)I'm glad that taping the knife to my skin wasn't a bad idea, since you're thinking the same thing. I've got Kinesiotape from work that will hold just as strong as duct tape but will be far less painful to get off.
If you put blood on it, won't it show for the next night's performance? Are you going to take it in and sew it even more closed to cover it?
I noticed that our backs will never be to the audience during the scenes we're alive. It probably won't be a big deal, anyway.
